Healthy Food Choices For A Much Healthier Lifestyle

Eating healthy can be quite hard, however it is something we would all love to do. If you ever want to eat healthy you really need to make the correct choices with your food. If you are what you eat, then pay close attention:

Grains

You should, be trying to consume around 6 ounces of grains per day. Sounds like a lot? Think of eating 3 ounces of whole grain cereals, breads, rice or pasta. To get one ounce of grains all you need to do is eat one slice of bread!

Vegetables

You should try and vary the vegetables that you eat. You must eat at least 2 cups of them each day. Try and start eating darker vegies like broccoli and spinach. Other vegetable like sweet potatoes and carrots are really good for you too. One vegetable which is so good for you and if you don't already have it in your diet you should, are beans!

Fruits

Fruits are a very important part of any diet. You should try eat at least two cups a day of them. Like vegetable, try and focus on eating a variety such as fresh, frozen or even dried fruit. You could even try drinking fruit juices or smoothies.

NOTE: Between vegetables and fruit you should be looking to eat at least five pieces in all!

Milk

Milk is essential for your calcium intake. Adults should look at drinking around three cups a day and kids about two cups. When you are thinking of what yogurt or milk products to buy try and choose ones with low fat or ones which are fat free. If you don't like milk or are not allowed to drink it, try and find other sources of calcium like fortified foods and drinks.

Meat And Beans

Meat and beans are absolutely essential to your protein intake. Ideally you should be eating looking to eat about 5 ounces a day and always looking to go lean with your protein. Try an vary your protein intake with foods like fish, beans and nuts.

By choosing your foods smartly and being careful what you eat, you can stay in complete control of your lifestyle. Try and add some exercise into your routine and you will be feeling healthy in no time!
